House League Parents Welcome 2024

Welcome to the 2024 House League Season
February 27, 2024
Welcome to House League

Dear GYL House League Families,

Soon we will be hitting the fields for the 2024 House League season! Our registration remains open and we expect a record number of girls and boys on the fields in March!

House League is the building block of our program and we are proud of our history and long standing commitment to youth sports in our community. GYL has been creating fun, developing skills, and strengthening character for more than 50 years!

Below are a series of updates as we prepare for the season. There will be some field swaps early in the season as the grass fields at GHS are under remediation and the turf fields are required to accommodate additional GHS sports early in our season.

A lot more information will be coming. There are a lot of moving parts this year, as you will learn, and we truly appreciate your patience. As always, the GYL web site will always be updated with the latest information and we will send out e-mails such as this with important updates.
Jersey Day
Saturday March 2
9:00 to 11:00
Old Greenwich School

This is our annual kick off for GYL. The House League kids come in the morning to get their jerseys and Travel Tryouts (grades 5-8) begin in the afternoon. Come pick up your jersey and meet some of your new teammates and coaches! It is a ton of fun and a great community event!

Proper Equipment / New Mandatory Shoulder Pads

Please be sure your child is equipped with the proper equipment for the season. GYL's Required Equipment Page is a valuable resource. Your son needs shoulder pads designed for lacrosse that includes a chest protector that meets NOCSAE standard ND200. Your daughter's goggles need to meet the current ASTM standards.
More than one person need to get these e-mails?
The easiest way to ensure these system generated e-mails get to everyone in your household is to follow the instructions below:

  1. Go to https://my.sportngin.com/user - you will be prompted to log in if you are not already logged in
  2. From the menu, click Registrations
  3. Click on the Registration titled "Spring 2024 GYL Lacrosse Player Registration"
  4. Look for the "Household Information" section on the resulting page and click the pencil (edit) icon to the right.
  5. Scroll toward the bottom of the page and you can enter/update Second Guardian information.
  6. Click "Save Registration Entry"
We need more volunteers!
Are you interested in coaching house league this season? We welcome new coaches at any grade level! Although we have a large number of former collegiate players in our House League coaching ranks, we are really looking for enthusiastic, positive, and organized people to help keep the kids engaged. More coaches means more reps! Our Master Coaches prepare all of the practice planners so no significant lacrosse experience is necessary. All teams have multiple coaches with different levels of experience. Let us know if you would like to join the fun!

If any parent would like to help at Jersey Day we would love to have you. Your role will involve greeting players and giving them their House League pinney. It's so much fun so please let us know if you can lend a hand!
Field challenges
You may already be aware that there are on-going field challenges with the Town of Greenwich. This year grass fields will be under remediation efforts which could impact Friday Night Clinics and our Sunday House League.

We are working with the Town Parks and Recreation as well as Greenwich High School to secure the field space we need for our House League program. Please be patient as we work out the logistics of running a safe program for our children!
More information is coming!
We will send a second update mail as we get closer to the season. We will confirm the times/locations for Friday Night Clinics and Sunday House League. We plan to be at Greenwich High School but we often have to adjust early in the season.
