GREENWICH YOUTH LACROSSE
Creating fun, developing skills, and strengthening character for over 50 years.
Then
GYL was founded in February 1972 by L.C. Whitey Heist, Jack Davies, John Behne, and Sam Connor
GYL was originally organized under the Old Greenwich-Riverside Community Centre (OGRCC) and limited to residents of Old Greenwich and Riverside in grades 7-9.
Now
GYL is one of the largest and most successful town programs in USA Lacrosse
Over 1,000 girls and boys participate each year
Hundreds of volunteer coaches give their time to develop players
GYL’s operating model and focus on skill development has been replicated by numerous other programs
GYL’s leadership role in CONNY Lacrosse, the governing body of Connecticut lacrosse, has led to incredible opportunities for its members including the formation of the CONNY girls’ division
GYL is thankful to the Greenwich community for its ongoing support over the past 50 years and looks forward to the next 50 years ahead.
