The commitment policy is not intended to be punitive to those that miss, but rather to reward those players who honor their commitment by showing up and can balance their participation with other activities. We respect your decision to participate in other activities, including club lacrosse, as long as you can navigate around GYL which must be your spring season extracurricular priority. Our program is a short season and has worked closely over the years with many area club lacrosse programs to help avoid conflicts. We aim to make it easy for you to not have conflicts, as much as we can control, but we need your help to make GYL the priority during our short season.
Furthermore, our program enrollment has increased by over 30% from last year and we have had to turn away players who tried to register late. Our ongoing goal is to find a home for every youth player who wants to participate. We simply couldn't keep up with the overwhelming demand this year. Given that dynamic, it becomes increasingly important that you make a firm commitment to GYL as there are several players that would like your spot!
Please respect our policy, but more importantly, your teammates and coaches who have made GYL their priority.
On behalf of the GYL Board, we wish you all the best, and thank you for your support of GYL,
Pat and Sarah
