Intro To Travel 2023

Dear Intro to Travel Parents,

 

We hope your kids are settling in to House League.  It is that time of year when we start to focus on our Intro to Travel program for registered 3rd and 4th graders. 

 

Evaluations will be Sunday April 2nd @ 4pm:

  • Player evaluations will take place on Sunday after the 3rd and 4th grade House League session

  • Girls will be on GHS #6 from 4:00 – 5:00

  • Boys will be on GHS #7 from 4:00 – 5:00

  • Don’t be concerned if you are going to be away as we have been evaluating kids at House League

  • We do not take friend requests

 

Other logistics:

  • Girls

    • We anticipate creating 3 equal teams in 3rd grade and 3 equal teams in 4th grade for a total of 6 Intro teams.

    • Girls play short-sided 7v7 games plus a goalie.

    • Practices are planned for Wednesdays at 6:00

    • Games will be on the weekends

  • Boys:

    • We anticipate having 3 teams, 1 3rd grade and 2 equal 4th grade teams

    • Boys 3rd grade play a combination of 7v7 small sided and 10v10 full field

    • Boys 4th grade plays 10v10 full field

    • Practices are planned for Wednesdays at 6:00

  • Shortly after team selections you will hear from your head coach with regards to expectations, schedule, etc.

  • Schedules:

    • All schedules will be posted on the GYL web site under “Travel Teams” (make sure you use the drop down menu and select the right team)

    • Intro to Travel teams will be playing on some turf but we are highly dependent on grass fields too - grass fields are highly susceptible to Town closures so your understanding is appreciated.

    • Games will vary but home games are typically Saturday at Cos Cob Park (we may also utilize this as practice time).

    • Not all games are posted yet – your head coach will let you know once this is finalized. 

    • All Intro players are required to be at House League on Sunday from 3:00 to 4:00pm.  Periodically girls teams will have a game on Sundays that conflicts with house league, this is unavoidable and we understand your absence from house league that day.

  • Intro is an extension of our House League program.  All Intro players are required to attend Friday Night Clinics and Sunday House League.  GYL has a firm commitment policy.
