Spring Season Cancelled
Dear GYL Families,
On behalf of the Greenwich Youth Lacrosse Board, I would like to thank you for your support and consideration during this unprecedented time. First and foremost, GYL will be cancelling the official 2020 spring season. Governor Lamont has recently messaged that Connecticut Public Schools (and corresponding school and town fields) are physically closed until May 20th. It seems a distinct possibility that school doors will remain closed for the balance of the calendar school year. Our travel league, CONNY Lacrosse Association, has also cancelled the 2020 season. GYL carefully weighed this decision and felt this was in the best interest of our membership.
All registrants will receive a 100% refund of GYL fees. Please allow 30 days for accounts to be credited. Our goal is to get this completed as soon as possible but this is a tedious and manual process that is obviously new to us so your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated.
If schools do unexpectedly open, and we have three weeks to play, GYL intends to offer a modified program for our intro to travel and travel players, who would otherwise be finishing out the end of their travel season. While this is unlikely to happen, it gives us some hope and something to look forward to during this difficult period. This would operate at NO charge to you and at your option to play or not! We would come back by May 15th with details and a plan for how this will work. House League will unfortunately remain closed. We will also be coming back to all of the membership with instructional and informational videos and continue to update our Facebook and Instagram accounts!
One last note. GYL is a 501-c3 non-profit organization run by volunteers who are deeply committed to lacrosse in our community. If you would like to turn your fees into a donation to our program to help defray some of our sunken costs, we ask that you tell us by Monday, April 20th. If you simply want your money returned, you need to do nothing. Sit tight and we will get to you asap.
Be safe! Be well!
